The initiative “Leave no trace in nature” aims to raise awareness of the importance of respecting the natural environment, and is oriented especially to children and their families.
An educational talk will be offered in schools in Catalonia from September 2023, and also, several actions through social networks, spreading the message of preserving our environment, for which they have united Rural Agents, the Kilian Jornet Foundation and the FEEC.
The educational talk will be included in the Environmental Education Program of Rural Agents (eduCAR), and is based on a game to learn about animals and their tracks, and also to identify the tracks left by humans when they don’t respect the environment. The students will have to find out actively these behaviors by forming groups: the group of campers, hikers, mushroom pickers, cyclists, reporters and swimmers.
Rural Agents will help students to identify how we should perform at the outdoors, and this would also be supported by different videos recorded by Kilian Jornet, in which he explains the importance of our actions to guarantee life on the planet and details the traces that can be left by people when enjoying nature.
The workshop also has comic-type drawings that illustrate anomalous situations that need to be monitored and corrected in the natural environment. The workshop explains the importance of leaving the natural space as we found it, trying to make it as little noticeable as possible that we have been there.
It lasts one hour and can be requested to Agents Rurals from September 2023, by primary (higher) and secondary schools throughout Catalonia.
All activities are based on sustainability and co-responsibility principles, and aim to expand the knowledge and the protection of our natural heritage, with the goal of acting as a preventive measure.
