November 18th 2023 was an unforgettable day of collaborative action for the preservation of our environment. The celebration of the event “From the Mountain to the Sea – The path towards a healthy environment” was a complete success, where more than 200 volunteers joined the three mass clean up locations that we organized in the city of Barcelona, demonstrating the strong commitment of the community to the preservation of our environment.

In less than two hours we managed to collect a total of 1.1 tons of waste (waste: 512 kg; plastic: 259 kg; bulky: 202 kg; glass: 74 kg; cardboard: 70 kg; organic: 1 kg) and more than 11,000 cigarette butts. An incredible result to start the European Waste Prevention Week!

This success would not have been possible without the great organization and participation of all the environmental entities that were part of this day, both in the clean ups and in the activation of environmental awareness workshops (Parc Natural de Collserola, Castell de Torre Baró, Casa de l’Aigua, Enforma Inspira, WWF Grup Local Barcelona, No más colillas en el suelo Barcelona, ocean52, Good Karma Projects, Plastic Oceans Europe, Associación PlasticFreewave, Surfrider Foundation España, Anèl·lides serveis ambientals marins, Plastic Attack Barcelona, Instituto de Ciencias del Mar, Equipament Municipal Centre de la Platja, Fundación CRAM, XEAB, Fundació Formació i Treball), as well as the Barcelona City Council and the City Council’s Cleaning Services, who joined us at all times.

From the Kilian Jornet Foundation we want to thank the more than 200 volunteers who joined this initiative. Your dedication highlights the importance of taking care about the impact of waste on our environment, on ourselves and on all the species with which we share our home.
