Exploring Nature’s limits

“While pushing my limits in the Alps, I’m witnessing how those ecosystems are also reaching their limits.”

– Kilian Jornet

The main mission of the Kilian Jornet Foundation is the preservation of mountains and their environment.

Mountains have played an essential role in Kilian Jornet’s athletic and personal growth, which is why their preservation has become both a passion and a priority.

current projects

Research

Research is key to understanding what is happening to the environment and taking action. We bet on it, and we enroll in different projects that will help to prevent the effects of climate change.

Education

Teaching the next generation about climate change and its impacts on our planet is key towards a net zero emission society. Thanks to the education projects, kids, university students, athletes and outdoor lovers would find answers to their questions. To preserve an environment you need to love it, and to love it you need to know it well.

Direct Actions

Preserving mountain environments is our mission. We identify a specific problem and we try to solve it by our direct actions, creating new and more sustainable processes. Keeping our planet healthy and ensuring a future for the upcoming generations is the aim of all direct actions we work on.

Why are mountains important?

Mountains play a key role in our global system. Without them and their environment there would be no life, and that is why it is essential to conserve and manage them sustainably.
“I have been climbing mountains and crossing glaciers my whole life, and I could observe how the effects of the climate change have been devastating.”
We all have a role in reversing this tendency and ensure that the next generations are able not only to play in the mountains but to live in a healthy planet. High mountains and glaciers are an essential part of the planet life, from the water cycle to the biodiversity, and my foundation is aiming to work for the protection of this regions and its role in the planet health.”
